Health Tip: Clean for Success!

August 7th, 2008

When we think of health or health tips, we usually think of diet/healthy foods, fitness/exercise,beauty or even hair tips. But there is a component to health tips that we don’t often see talked about when it comes to successful health tips, that I feel needs to be addressed.
The reason I even thought about this was, while cleaning a trailer today, after getting rid of the dust, I started to clean.  I used a variety of products that you can get from any supermarket and I noticed that while the dust clogged my nose and pores, the chemicals in these cleaners, had me feeling quite ill.

I finally stopped ( I have quite a bit more to do) and had a shower.  Within a short time, the feeling ill left and I am now almost back to normal.

Once I realized the cause of the illness, it made me think of another post I did on Success Health News back in June and while it may not seem like there is a correlation between being a Neat Geek and me feeling ill, when I went back to the test and really read the results, I realized that all too often we buy chemicals  for cleaning when we don’t need them.

Here is my health tip for the day. Instead of buying so many chemical cleaning products, start listening to all those people out there who have been advocating natural cleaning products.

Take for example vinegar( which was recommended to be used in the test results).  Vinegar is a product that has so many uses and we don’t really think about it.

Success Diet Tip: Be Careful Where You Eat

August 2nd, 2008

In our fast paced lives, when home cooking is becoming a thing of the past, millions of families go to fast food chains for an easy meal.
While we consider this all junk food as well as not good for us, we forgo our nutritional health needs for the sake of time saving.

What will surprise you, is that your “casual- dining chain restaurant” is worse than many of the fast-food chains, such as McDonalds, Wendy’s etc when it comes to successful eating for your health.  In fact the fast food chains now have an open door policy of supplying to the public  the breakdown of what they put in that juicy hamburger, french fries or chocolate milkshake.

Here is a scarey thought, Your favorite sit down restaurant may have a menu that is loaded with fat, calories and sodium to the point that a single meal at one of these restaurants could contain more calories and especially  sodium than most of us should eat in a whole day! Health News From Days Gone By

July 29th, 2008

When we think about health news, we often think of the stories that describe the successes that modern medicine has created in peoples lives. Modern Doctors have so many resources at their fingertips, from laboratories that are funded by governments and private industries, to world class medical education, research, and up-to-date health information.
In times gone by, medical discoveries were not so easily accomplished. Much of the research was in many ways barbaric, done in less than sanitary conditions and with little to no understanding of the underlying science of good health.
This blog is a recap of those men and women who have helped to shape our health systems today. We truly owe our health success to these pioneers.
