Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian Friends in and out of the Blogosphere.

Thanksgiving is one of the traditional holidays where those who have hypertension have problems keeping on any diet successfully as we all tend to think of that Turkey dinner high in calories, sodium and fats. Welcome to the DASH Diet friendly thanksgiving Dinner.

Creating a Successful thanksgiving dinner using the Dash Diet principle is not difficult when you remember that with the Dash Diet requires that you eat lots of vegetables, fruits, lean meats, fish, poultry, low fat and nonfat dairy, bean and nuts, and whole grain.

Here are just a few tips to help make your thanksgiving a Dash Diet Success:

* Make a low fat gravy by using a skimmer cup to remove most of the fat from the turkey drippings. Make your gravy high flavor by first sauteing onions or shallots along with minced garlic. Add red wine, and boil to burn off the alcohol, while leaving great flavor. Add the skimmed meat drippings. Use instant flour to thicken the hot gravy.
* Mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes are great sources of potassium, one of the key DASH diet nutrients. Use skim milk and light margarine for mashing.
* Cranberry sauce is a great source of antioxidants, which are great for your heart.
* If you are eating at a family or friends home, bring a vegetable dish or vegetable appetizers, so that you can be sure to have a healthy dinner.

Are Our Children Allowed to Be Successful?

September 12th, 2008 -- Posted in Family Health Tips, Health News | No Comments »

Success Health News thanks the Napkin Dad for this Napkin

Thank you Napkin Dad for this napkin, even though this may not have been about abuse, this illustrates that abuse can happen in seemingly normal homes.

Should the children cry?

Child’s Eyes –

Child’s eyes are all beautiful.

They are innocent, full of love and

hopes for the future, for life.

However each child has a destiny.

Some eyes will see a life full

of love and satisfactions, other

will see malice of the world and

will cry so much that they will lose

innocence.

Suffering marks child’s eyes for all

life.

We have to stop children’s crying.

thank you euromarta
